Are you over 55, an “empty-nester,” or facing retirement and wondering “What do I want to do now?” If so, I invite you to my 11-week class based on Julia Cameron’s book, It’s Never Too Late to Begin Again: Discovering Creativity and Meaning at Midlife and Beyond. The author of the life-changing book, The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity, Cameron says that her new book addresses the question, “What’s next?” for those embarking on their “second act in life.” The book shows us how cultivating our creative, authentic selves helps us navigate the new terrain of midlife and retirement, featuring inspiring stories of people who discovered new pursuits and passions that filled their days and nurtured their souls. Says one former student, “This class helped me regain my creative impulse, overcome inertia, and feel a sense of joie de vivre again. Through the tools and tasks in each chapter, and under Kim’s wise and gentle guidance, I renewed my vigor. I now actively seek out adventure!” The next 11-week class will likely take place in the spring of 2019 on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm in my Arlington office, and the investment is $440. I’m may also present an intro to the course in February at The Arlington Center. We’ll work to define the life you now desire, and retrieve treasures from the life you’ve lived, using such tools as:
– Memoir writing – offering an opportunity to reflect on—and honor—past experience and write our own stories
– Morning Pages – private, stream-of-consciousness writing done daily to clarify, purge and bring truths to the surface
– Artist Dates – which encourage fun, play, self-care and spontaneity
– Solo Walks to quell anxiety, clear the mind and inspire us in life and nature
As a certified life and career coach, I’ll offer additional coaching, wisdom and resources as applicable. Interested in joining us or receiving individualized coaching in this work? Please contact me. I’d love to help you make this one of the richest chapters of your life!
